Stewards
Please come and join our friendly band of workers!
The Devizes Eisteddfod is a charity, run wholly by unpaid volunteers. Each year we rely on the support of a team of people who give us a day of their time to help run this great event.
You can do a morning or afternoon session, or all day if you can spare the time. Full instructions will be given.
We need approximately 40 stewards for each November festival. Stewards will be entitled to one free ticket to the Festival Concert on 21st November 2026 as a thank you.
Please contact us for more details should you require, or simply email Sue Ross (see Committee Members above) before 1st October who will be happy to give you any information you may need.
Please help us if you can – it will be much appreciated.
We look forward to hearing from you!!
Stewards Briefing Meeting on Wednesday 4th November 2026 at 7.30pm. It is essential that all volunteers attend the briefing meeting so that they know what they are doing on the day.
Adjudicators’ Clerks
Adjudicators’ Clerks are responsible for the paperwork for their classes. They hand the relevant forms to the Adjudicators and then on to the Door Steward for collection by the runner. They also ensure that the classes run to time and advise the Adjudicators if they are behind.
Door Stewards
Our Door Stewards man the entrance doors to the venues and make sure you are not interrupted when performing. They are there to help answer questions and help the adjudicators with any problems. They sell Festival Programmes and, from this year, entry tickets.
Room Hosts
The room host introduces classes and the adjudicator, gives out general announcements about no phones or cameras, details of emergency exits. He/she also informs competitors about leaving copies of their items on the adjudicator’s table before classes begin, announcing the adjudicator’s speech at the end of each class and reminding competitors to collect their copies, certificates and comments sheets from the adjudicator’s clerk as the class finishes. They would also make sure the Adjudicator and Clerk have tea/coffee etc. and be the point of contact for entrants.
Become a Corporate Member
The Eisteddfod welcomes the support from prominent local companies and private individuals wishing to become Corporate Members of the festival.
The Eisteddfod receives no on-going public funding and relies totally for its income on entry fees and to the generosity of enlightened local businesses and individuals.
In return for a fee of £250 (inclusive), invoiced in September, the Eisteddfod will offer the following one year benefit package:
- An A5 full page advert inside the Devizes Eisteddfod Syllabus, published in May.
- An A5 full page advert inside the Devizes Eisteddfod Programme, published in November.
- Advert reproduced on the Devizes Eisteddfod web-site.
- Four seat reservations and programmes for the evening Festival Concert on Saturday, 21st November 2026 at 7pm.
- Invitations for four company guests to attend the Reception in the Devizes Town Hall on Saturday, 21st November.
- Mentions of corporate membership in the on-going Devizes Eisteddfod media information programme.
- Other benefits to be mutually acceptable to both parties.
Organisations and individuals interested in becoming a Corporate Member should contact the Director, Jemma Brown
Supporters of the Eisteddfod
Help us secure the future of the Eisteddfod by becoming a Festival Supporter. At a time when the arts in schools are becoming so marginalised it is even more important that events like the Eisteddfod continue to flourish and provide important opportunities for young people.
For an annual payment of £25 (up to two people), or a one-off payment of £200 for a lifetime membership, supporters receive the following benefits:
- Your name listed in the annual Eisteddfod Souvenir Programme (optional)
- A free copy of the annual Eisteddfod Programme mailed to you in early November
- Two tickets for the annual Festival Concert in the Devizes Town Hall at 7pm on Saturday 21st November 2026
- An invitation for two to the private Reception after the Festival Concert
The Eisteddfod receives no public funding and relies entirely on the support it receives from its sponsor, corporate members, advertisers and supporters.
Do help us to continue to develop this wonderful event!
To become a Supporter of the Eisteddfod please download, print and complete the Supporters Leaflet here.
The Committee of the Devizes Eisteddfod would like to thank Devizes Town Council for allowing us the use of the Town Hall facilities free of charge. We are hugely grateful to them as this venue is the hub of the event and a wonderful space for our young entrants to perform in.
We also thank our other venues – St Andrew’s Church and St John’s Church – for their support, without which the event would be unable to run.
